A grey and white male raced across the landscape, passing a green oak. It was a fine day, squirells scampering about, birds chirping, but nothing measured up to Kaine. His colors were traditional, as was he in some ways, he was tall for a wolf and could pose a threat possible if he wanted to, but he was a wolf of caring nature. Playfully, the male chased after a qual that had gotten too close to him, and it ran away, squaking with fright. Hungry not, and thirst quenched, he howled, claiming this land that he ran on his. Slowing down, he went in search of a cave suitable for him.

Lilly made her way up the rocks looking around. She could smell another and crouched in fright. She could tell it was a male and she just on her gaurd. Her days spent in the confines of Aart's lair had made her very scared and unsure of herself. She had wonderd from him and hoped he wouldn't find her, but than again she wanted him with her. She knew this male was not the evil one of her past but it still made her unsure. Hearing the howl, she debated running but something kept her glued to this spot.

Kaine skidded to a stop, sensing another wolf. He barked again happily, letting the other know that he was not a threat. He sniffed the air again, and knew it was a female. Following the general direction where the wind was blowing her scent to him, a mile or so away he saw a cowering figure. He howled again, letting her know that he was not going to hurt her. He sat on his haunches, wagging his tail, enigmatic

She relaxed but only slightly still weary. She whined but stood taller and took a tentative step forward. "Hello?" she called out questioning. She could see the figure in the distance and sighed almost relieve that she knew it wasn't who she hoped it wouldn't be. Hanging her head she sat silently waiting to see if he would answer. Looking around again, Lilly found a way out of the rocks quickly if anything should happen.

His tail was a grey blur now, and he grinned. "Hello! Did you just come here? My name's Kaine. Yours?", He called out, unsure if she would bolt if he advanced. He did, however, start trotting, going against the odds.

Lilly cringed as he ran towards her. She lifted a foot ready to run but again her brain just gave a blank. She stood there looking shocked at the male in front of her. "Lilly." she said softly her voice ringing a little. "My names Lilly."

Kaine tilted his head to the side a bit, quizically looking at the female. She looked like she was about to run, yet she stayed where she was. Odd..., he thought, but was happy Lilly had decided not to run. At least not for the moment. Finally, he bowed his head slightly. "I'm sorry if I startled you. Nice to meet you, though.", He said softly, then smiled slightly again. Kaine sat down, his tail wagging again.

Lilly say her foot back down on the ground. "Nice to meet you too." She said this polietly but it was like it came out without her thinking about it. She tried to relax as the male seemed no threat but she just couldnt' figure out what to do. He legs were tired from running but were still tense. Shaking her head she tried to think or do something. "You're alpha here?" she asked looking around. Her ear twitched and she shook her head again relaxing the muscles in her neck and finally in her legs. Her tail just barely twitched just little.

"Actually, I just came here not long before you, but yes, I did happen to claim it. Do you need a place to lie down?", Kaine asked, seeing that she was tired. "I saw some nice caves over there." He jerked his head in the direction as where he had come, and smiled again. The sun broke through from the clouds just then, and he squinted into the new light. He noticed that she appeared travel worn and thin. First, do you think going hunting would be a good idea?"

Her eyes glimmered a little hearing about caves and food. It had been a good three days since she'd eaten and not eating had tired her out a little more. "Sleep would be great." she said with a slight laugh feeling more comfortable. "Food can come later." She stood back up and looked towards where he pointed. "I hope you don't mind." she said feeling like an intruder. She felt this male now really wasn't dangerous and stepped towards him looking to the slope where he pointed.

He grinned. "Nah, no problem at all! It's actually good to have a bit of company, I've been running too, for a while. Come, I'll show you the caves.", And with that sentence, he spun around, his tail once again a blur. He sped off for a few yards, then slowed down, but still moving, looking back at Lilly.

She followed slowly but surely until she reached him. Then she kept with his pace, panting only a little. She hoped she'd feel safe enough to sleep with the male here. Then again she was probably too tired to stay awake. "Thanks again." Her tail still hung low behind her and didn't wag as his had. She wasn't sure enough for that but time would change that.

He slowed his pace a little to match hers. There was a big puddle that held clean enough water, so he took a few sips of it, his tongue flicking in and out, then motioned for her to do the same, thinking that she might be thirsty too. Then, he slowed even more, and stopped in front of a big cave. It was warm and cozy, and he hoped Lilly would like it. Turning to her, Kaine asked, "Is this good enough? There are some other caves, but this is one of the nicer ones."

Lilly stopped at the water and lapped it up delicately with her tounge. She then moved to be next to him. "Thats perfect." she said graciously and walked up into the cave. Taking a place to the side she layed down and curled up her tail over her nose. She was asleep before she knew anything else and relaxed completely glad to be able to rest.

Kaine smiled, seeing the female not tensed and scared, like she had been. Treading softly as to not wake her up, he went to the next cave and lay down, not sleeping though. His mind was reeling with the day's encounters.
