His tail wagged and he stepped towards her so they were face to face. "That's one big fat lie." he said and rubbed his head against hers in an affectionate nuzzle. "You don't give yourself any credit." he laughed and sat down next to her looking at her with big soft eyes.

Nicola couldn't smile along with him. Instead, she rested her head on her paws, her eyes dark and sad. There was no way this kind, nice wolf could possibly find her worthy of love, and even now, she could feel the hostile side of her that she'd been trying to hard to repress, surge up like a tidal wave. It was her defense against any form of feeling.

"What's wrong?" he asked laying next to her. He sighed figuring he said something wrong. His ears flattened against his head and his eyes dulled just a little though still held a sparkle in them

"Nothing," she muttered back, still gazing at the grass in front of him. "I just don't see why you care so much. It's just me. Nothing wonderful."

"But you are wonderful." he said leaning against her. "Don't you see that?"

She shook her head, unable to meet his eyes. "No, I don't see it. My whole life, I've been treated as if I'm nothing. By my parents, my siblings, and Argo. It's impossible for me to belief that you think otherwise," she said, biting her tongue for spilling her guts like that. With him around, she was always compelled to tell whatever came to her mind, whatever was bothering her. It was unnatural for her, and it even scared her a little; she wasn't used to her voice actually mattering to someone. "So when you say I'm wonderful," she continued in a hushed tone, "you can't expect me to believe you. I've been hurt too much in my past to blindly believe what anyone says. It will take... time. Lots of time, before I'm someone worthy to be loved. If you want to wait, that's fine, but... I can't guarantee that I'll ever be fixed. I may always be damaged goods, not worthy of what you can give to me." Again, she'd told him exactly what she was thinking, what she was feeling. It frustrated her, but she wasn't about to stop it now. "I really like you, Doomed, which is why I think you deserve someone better than me. Someone capable of being good enough. I never will be." She kept her eyes on the grass in front of her, embarassed for admitting as much as she had.

Doomed lay still listening to all that she had to say. Her words made him feel sad deep down but a small smile remained on his face When she finished he let out a very light chuckle and licked her muzzle. "I don't think your damaged at all. I think it's all in your head, emotional hurt. And your d**n right i'll wait. As long as it takes for you to realize what's right in front of your head. You'll see one day that none of this is your fault. It's the evil deeds of those in your past." He stopped and scooted closer to her letting her absorb what he had just said. "You're not in the past anymore. This is a new life and i'm here to prove to you that good wolves exist and that you're one of them. I don't care how long it takes."

She stayed silent for a long, long moment, letting what he said digest in her mind, sink in and work it's way through. She managed a smile, though it didn't reach her eyes. "Well... I think I'll start working on that. No promises, of course, but... I'll try to be better about it." she sighed, and leaned over, laying her head on his paws.

He layed his head on top of hers and smiled. "And i'll be right here waiting." He sighed and just got lost in his own thoughts. Thinking was hard for him but he was getting better at it.

Nicola let her eyes shut, but of couse she wasn't tired. It was just that, she'd never been loved like this ever before. It was all new to her, and it scared her a little. But she was willing to go through it all, even willing to confront Argo, if it came to it. All for Doomed.

He stayed close to her letting her think and just relax. His breathing deepened and evened out though he wasn't asleep. He was there for her and he wanted her to know that.

The sun was beginning to lower in the sky, setting it afire with bright colors that looked like someone splashed the sky with a paintbrush. Nicola sighed, knowing that they should probably get back, though she was loathe to disrupt the perfect moment.

Doomed sighed. "You wanna go back?" he asked lifting his head. He really didn't want to leave her side. He wanted to be there to reassure her no matter what happened. He'd hate to see her flee in the middle of the night just because her thought got to strong for her to take.

"Not really," she said, "but we should." She sighed heavily, and stood, stretching her stiff legs. Her paws burned a bit, the cracks in them aching in protest, but she ignored it easily.

He sighed "Ok, then." He smiled and walked up rubbing against her side. He laughed and moved off towards the caves, looking back to her.
