Nicola chuckled, and followed him. "I'm sorry I have to go so slow," she apologized, "but my paws are absolutely killing me." She whimpered as a piece of rock scraped against an open crack, and she yelped when another piece got stuck.

He glanced back at her with a sad look. "I'd carry you if I could." he said and watched her limp dragging her feet. "We'll just stay at the caves until you get better. "

Nicola nodded. "Okay," she said, wincing with every step she took. She limped all the way to the caves, where she collapsed with a yelp. "That sucked," she said, licking one paw tenderly.

He followed her slowly up the rocky hill and lay down next to her looking out at the waterfall. "You'll get better soon." he said with a nod. The waterfall made the cave nice and cool, and even sprayed you down if you sat in the right place.

Nicola sighed. "I hope so." She smiled at him, and leaned over to lay her head across his paws. "I'm so glad I've found you," she said in a low voice. Truly, she was. If she hadn't.... She didn't even want to think of the ugly creature that she could have become, would have become if she'd kept all those emotions locked up.

He grinned and licked her muzzle. "I'm glad you found me." He smiled and curled up close to her wanting to just comfort her and be near her.

Outside, darkness had fallen, and was blanketing the ground in a thick coat of black silhouettes and shadows. The sky was a darkened shade of navy, with bright stars glistening like diamonds in it's surface. The sky was doubly beautiful, it's reflection shining in the crystal waters below the waterfall, hidden to Nicola by the dulled sound fo the crashing waterfall, cascading down the rock surface and disturbing the quiet silence of the dark night with a pleasant white noise that urged Nicola to sleep. She did as it was telling her to, letting her mind wander and drift into a sleep that was the most comfortable she'd had in ages.

Doomed himself lat sleep claim him. His head resting against her. The sound of her heart beat and deep, even breaths lulled him away into darknesss disturbed only by the sound of the waterfall. Just serving as a becon calling him away to sleep. He slept soundly never really moving and so comfortable and warm curled up next to his new friend.

Though Nicola did not stir in her sleep, her dreams were dark and sinister, of the darkest of things. Argo. In her dream, he'd come to find her, and was ready for blood. He killed Doomed, and Kenyan, and was stalking toward her with glistening red fangs, and glowing eyes in a matching color. But Nicola was too deep asleep to move, and eventually, the dream washed away, like watercolors under a faucet. The evil dream was replaced by a pleasant one. She and Doomed were laying in a warm, fragrant meadow, the music of a brook bubbling nearby. She was snuggled against him, licking his face in a show of respect and love. Unlike the last dream, she responded to this one, smiling in her sleep.

Doomed woke early the next morning and streached out, yawning. Seeing the smile on her face made his grin. He trotted over to the waterfal and stuck his head under it, the cold refreshing water waking him up. Licking his muzzle then, he sighed and looked around. He didn't want to go off out of the cave and leave her here. Shaking his head he slowly padded over to her and lay back down curling up next to her. He put his head on the ground close to hers and licked her face gently not wanting to wake her up.

In her dreams, it was almost as if she could feel Doomed licking her face, his soft tongue washing away all the sorrows she'd ever felt. Slowly, she began to realize that the feeling wasn't coming from her dream, but that someone was actually licking her. She yawned slowly, stretching her legs and popping one sleepy, drowzy eye open. "Oh, good morning," she said, the words coming out more like a mixture between a sigh and a moan.

He smiled at her. "I didn't mean to wake you." he said looking at her with sad eyes. "Go back to sleep if you want." he stayed laying next to her his eyes on the waterfall. He shivered a little for some reason even though he wasn't cold and laughed scooting closer to her.

Nicola shook her head, trying to clear it, so that she could speak without it sounding like mush. "No, I'm okay. I slept great, and I'm not tired any more." The words were true; she felt better rested than she had felt in too long to remember. That was partly because of Doomed, snoozing beside her.

He smiled and sat up. "Well , I'm glad to hear that." he said nodding with a wolfy grin glued to his face. He shook his coat out and licked her nose againt returning to the waterfall. He stuck his tounge out as the water rained down on it attempting to take a drink.

Nicola chuckled a little, as Doomed got splashed in the face by the raging waterfall as he attempted to get a drink, an idea that wasn't exactly bright. She sighed, as she ran through how life could play out for them. They could grow to love each other, she was sure. They could go off together, have some pups, find a nice place to be Alpha and Alphess.... Speaking of Alphas..... "I wonder where Kenyan has run off to?" she wondered aloud.
