Roxy looked up at the light, but didn't return Carly's gaze. She sighed setting her elbow, but the window of the truck, her head resting on her hand. She sighed and shook her head a little. "Yeah, but I'll be ok." she said softly. Under the dark sunglasses, tears brimmed her eyes and she forced herself to calm down and take a few deep breaths, let it all pass by. This happened every so often, memories would just flood her mind and she'd be sidetracked for a little while remembering what once was. She just had to remind herself to breath and it would pass. Give her a few minutes and she'd be back to her old friendly happy self.

Carly White::
Deciding not to push her, I nodded and looked back in front of me as the light turned green. "Okay...but if you ever need to talk, you know where to find me." I glanced at her with a sympathetic smile and then returned my gaze to the road. I wanted Roxy to know that I would be there for her if she did decide to talk, but I didn't want her to feel like I was prying into something that wasn't my business.
When I looked around for the sign to the restaurant she had suggested, I took in the locations of other things I might need to remember later. Then I saw the sign and pulled into the parking lot. I parked near the door and turned the car off. "Ready to eat?" I asked, feeling the hunger grow stronger. I didn't realize I was this hungry.

Roxy sighed and just stared out the window. "Thanks." she replied to her offer to talk. "I might have to take you up on that one day." She knew she couldn't hold everything in forever. When the car stopped in front of the restaurant, Roxy managed a smile and nodded. "Yes, I'm starving." she chuckled rubbing her stomach lightly. "Bo, you stay here and be good." she warned exiting the vehicle and shutting the door behind her. The dog sat on the passengers seat and waited patiently. Removing the dark shades from her eyes, she hung them just on the front of her tank top, gently wiping her eyes then, where she knew were evidence of tears threatnening to fall.

I nodded, agreeing with Roxy. I would be there for her whenever she needed to talk. Then she noted she was starving and I nodded again, smiling. She got out of the truck so I followed her lead. I saw her rub her eyes, but I didn't say anything. I glanced at Bo and decided to leave a window cracked for him, and rolled the passenger window down a little. I turned back to Roxy and wondered what the food would be like here. Probably very good. I felt hungrier anticipating it. Smiling at my new friend, I motioned for us to go in.

When the two women left the truck, Bo whimpered looking out the window, and then curled up and on the seat for a nap till they got back. Roxy smiled at Carly when she motioned to go in and nodded. "Yes, let's eat." she said and started walking that way, pulling her tank top down a little. She took a deep breath, letting all the worrisome feelings out and put a smile on. Upon entering, she told the waitress there was only two and followed her to their seats, waiting for Carly.

Roxy led the way inside and I followed, eying the restaurant with interest as we walked inside. The waitress led us to our table and I sat down and scanned the inside of the restaurant. Then I turned to the menu and glanced at Roxy, making sure she was okay. I didn't know her that well yet, but she was nice and I was considering us friends. I didn't want to see her hurting. I looked down at the menu and looked through the selections. "Mmm..." I said, looking over everything. "Everything sounds good...going to be hard to pick..." I laughed a little. The waitress asked us what we wanted to drink. "Sweet Tea, please," I said, already knowing that's what I wanted.

Roxy smiled softly and glanced over the menu. She looked up to the waitress when the woman asked for their drinks and frowned in thinking. "Lemonade." she said then as the waitress went off to get their drinks. "What are you gonna have?" Roxy asked Carly, looking over at her. She glanced back at the menu trying to decide for herself.

Roxy ordered a lemonade and then the waitress was gone. I looked down at my menu, glancing at Roxy when she asked a question. "Hm...I'm not sure. What do you recommend?" I asked. I wasn't a picky eater so probably anything would do. Not having ever been here, I wasn't sure what they did the best. I glanced out of a window close by and eyed my truck, watching Bo curled up on the seats, looking quite content. I knew a lot of people that had dogs and usually the dogs weren't nearly as well-trained as Bo. I smiled, and glanced back down at my menu.

Roxy followed Carly's gaze and smiled at Bo too, she loved that dog and knew he'd be there for her just when she needed him most. "Everythings good here, just depends on what mood you're in." she said lifting the menu up slightly to scan the selection. She wasn't sure what she really wanted bu she knew she was hungry, so decided she wanted something more than just a salad or something small like she normally ate. "I think a nice hamburger sounds good to me." she voiced aloud to no one imparticular, knowing she'd order a small steak for Bo to eat when they got home. Turning her bright blue grey eyes upwards she glanced over Carly as if noticing her for the first time, then looked past her out the window to the truck again.

Carly::
I glanced over the menu again and nodded as I hear Roxy speak again. "...Philly cheese steak...mmm." That was one of my favorites. I remembered when my dad used to make them every Friday night. I smiled at the memory and made a mental note that I would get that. I put the menu down in front of my and focused on my friend. "So how long have you lived in this area?" I asked, interested in knowing more about her. If we were going to be friends, I couldn't just know her name. I folded my hands and waited for the waitress to return.

Roxy smiled and turned her eyes back to Carly. Leaning back in her seat, she crossed her arms lightly over her stomach. "Um, only about 2 months or so." she said chuckling lightly. She hadn't really lived here long but she had made herseld fit in. After all she was friendly and willing to help out those in need, so she made herself right at home. "I have a small ranch just a few miles out of town. It's nothing special, but keeps me busy."

I sat back, too. "Really. Just two months? I should hang around you then. " I grinned widely. It had taken me a year to get settled in when I first moved in the area. Moving into this new neighborhood, really a new area as well, I hoped to try harder making friends. It wasn't that I was mean or anything, just quiet. Her next words peaked my interest even more. "Really! A ranch? Do you have horses?" I asked, smiling. I loved horses. Everything about them; their beauty, their power...the way they could seem so wild in spirit, but so devoted to an owner. Calm with kids and spirited with others of their kind. The waitress returned and I gave her my order.

Rox grinned at her enthusiasim and nodded. "Yeah I have horses. Just a few now." she said turning to give the waitress her order and the to-go for Bo. "I didn't want to have to many, seeing as I'm the only one taking care of them." she said shaking her head some. She knew soon, it would become to dangerous with her expecting and she would be able to do much of anything at all. The thought hit her though, that if Carly really liked horses and got along with them, maybe she could hire the young woman to help care for them later. "You ever really worked with horses?" she asked curiously and sipped on a glass of water, her stomach growling loudly at the thought of food coming.

Roxy sent her order and I leaned forward, elbows on the table and folded my hands, chin on top of them. "Really...you're the only one?" I asked, mostly to myself since she had just said that. I wondered what it would be like to see horses in your own yard every day. I stared thoughtfully at the table until Roxy spoke again. "Well my uncle has horses and I used to help him out at his ranch when I was a teenager.. but we moved away when I was seventeen so I haven't had a chance to work with them in a while. I had my own horse at his ranch that I got to visit on the weekends, when we did live there. I helped break him in, too." I smiled at the memories, riding my horse, Thunder, every Friday afternoon..taking him on the trails on Saturdays.

Roxy nodded slightly and her face lost just a bit of color, solemn expression present. "Yeah, just me." she said softly, turning her eyes downward. "And the dogs of course." She forced a smile which anyone could see was fake and took another drink, trying to take her mind of the current thoughts. After a few moments and listening to the younger woman speak, she opened her mouth again. "You know I might be needing some help soon with taking care of them. If you'd be interested and don't mind, we could swing by there on the way back to your room." she muttered, glancing around slightly.
