"I understand," she said quietly, understanding exactly how he felt. "It's my.... Well, you can't really call him my mate anymore. He's not exactly the nicest male," she made a face at the understatement, "so I left him. But.... I doubt he'll let me go so easily." In fact, on several occasions, he'd sworn to kill her if she ever left. So going back to him was out of the question, since it would mean the end of her life.

"I think you should move up to the cave. It sounds the being here in the open isn't safe for you. And if anyone asks I havn't seen you or know who you other. Other than my mate of course, she'll know." he offered this thinking if he could get her up in the cave she'd be protected for the most part and be harder to find. "You think you can make it up there?" he asked lifting his nose upwards to the rocks behind the waterfall. "It would be much safer than out here and it's warm and we never run out of water." he said with a laugh.

Despite the dark topic of her "mate", Nicola actually managed a weak chuckle. "No, I suppose you don't." She moved her legs so that they were under her, and attempted to put a little weight on them. When she didn't immediately collapse, she put on some more weight, until she was standing. Her joints hurt, her muscles were throbbing, and her paws felt like she was standing on glass, but she could stand. She looked up to the caves. "I can make it," she said, sounding more like she was trying to convince herself than Kenyan. She took a careful step forward, knowing that it was going to hurt to do so. But she found that she could walk, now that the energy was reaching her muscles.

He smiled watching her. "Good." he trotted forward then, up the slope in front of her clearing away rocks and clutter so it would be easier for her to manage. He returned then to follow behind her in case she slipped or collapsed or something he could help. He was anxious and excited trying to get her to safty though he still wondered what it was that tramutized the femme.

It was a painfully long way up, and several times, she almost lost her balance. But she managed to limp her way into the caves, crawling to the back corner that appeared uninhabited. "Thank you," she repeated quietly, still unused to the words. "It's... very kind of you to take me in like this, knowing the risk." She frowned. There was never a time when Argo was completely off her mind, and she wondered where he was. If he was hunting her down; no doubt he could follow the bloody trail her paws had left, not to mention her scent. She thought of Kenyan, sure that he would want to know what exactly he was facing. "If you wish, I'll tell you why I'm running from Argo, so that you have a better clue of what demon may cross your path." The pain in her voice was very faint, hardly noticable, but still there. She wondered if he would pick up on it, but dismissed the thoughts, trying to think of some way to begin. There was a time, long ago, when she hadn't feared Argo, when they'd been equals. She almost sighed as she thought of the happier times, before her first litter.

He layed down a ways away from her in the cave. "I really don't want to know. It obviously bothers you and if he comes here he'll have to deal with me just like any other wolf." Kenyan could be suprisingly hostile towards other wolves if they showed and kind of threat to him or his pack. He always had a soft spot for females specially if they've come from a bad situation. He sighed thinking of what her life must be like. He just wanted to keep her comfortable until she decided to move on. "Just know your safe and cared for here."

Nicola nodded, grateful. It was a strange feeling; she'd never been thankful to anyone in a long, long time, since she was a tiny pup. It was a good feeling. "I'll try to get back on my feet just as quickly as I can, so that I can get out of here, and hopefully, he won't come here, and I'll be out of your fur."

"Stay as long as you like and don't worry about anything." he said this quietly though purposefully. Laying down on his stomach he rested his head on the rock floor of the cave and closed his eyes. He rolled to his side after awhile, fully relaxed, and was lost in the roar of the falls.

Seeing the male- Kenyan, she forced herself to use his name- begin to drift off, Nicola sighed. She hated being here, making herself rely on others, when she could fend for herself. She hated having to lay here, while she could be running, getting farther away from Argo. After all, a hundred miles wasn't far enough, and he was a fast runner. She whimpered very quietly to herself as she pondered what the possible options were. Option 1) She could run from here, just as soon as Kenyan was asleep. She would run and run until she collapsed. Argo would find her and kill her. Option 2) She could stay here, and let Argo come and kill Kenyan and his mate, whoever she was. Both options made Nicola flinch, but there was nothing else she could think of.

Kenyan's tail wagged from side to side and he licked his lips in his sleep. He was unaware of the femme's thoughts and desire to get away from here. To him she was just another wolf he hoped to help along her journey. His ears pricked up and then relaxed again as he drempt of his puppyhood.

Nicola was debating with herself; should she leave, and hopefully keep Argo away from this land? Or should she stay and heal a bit, before making a run for it? She was undecided on which path would work best. Her aching paws screamed at her to stay, to keep resting. Every muscle in her body was in agony, begging to stay still, to rest, and Nicola found she could not deny them. Before she really knew what had happened, she was sound asleep, dreamless and restful, thanks to being to exhausted.

Kenyan woke early the next morning with a large yawn. He noticed the female was still here and smiled happy she decided to rest. Delilah however was still no where to be found. He stood and streached his legs, looking out the cave to the waterfall. Smiling, he ran and jumped fron the cave opening, freefalling down through the falls to the lake. With a splash, he landed and submerged. Rising again, he smiled and shook his head. Swimming to the bank, he shook his fur and took a nice drink from the lake.

Nicola jumped when she heard a loud crashing noise, like someone busting through glass. She jumped up, ignoring the ache in her paws, and dashed to the waterfall, looking down. She sighed with relief when she saw that Kenyan was okay. That looked a bit fun, actually, jumping from so high.

Kenyan sat by the water, slightly bored. He let his front feet wave with the tide of the falls, swishing up and down. Rolling on his back he looked to the sky and licked his nose. He though about this strange female and wondered what would become of her. She seemed on gaurd and untrusting. His eyes caught a little butterfly as he flew just above his head. He laughed and swiped a wet paw at it missing competely.

Looking down at Kenyan, where he sat down there, so far away, she watched him swat at the butterfly, and couldn't help but laugh, in spite of herself. "You act like such a pup," she called down to him, a wolfy smile on her face. It felt strange, having a genuine smile on her face, not the fake one she wore when Argo was around. She was unused to having fun, not being beaten for speaking out. Maybe that's what she needed, to have fun.
