"Whats the point to life anymore?" Flame thought as she sat on the warm lava heated rocks. "IT would just be easier to jump into the lava and burn." She mumbled to herself, "Besides no one would miss me, heck they wouldn't even notice i was gone.."

Despite being a normal wolf, I came in curiosity. I had heard much about these lava caves and the volcanoes. But I had never experienced them myself. The fire rumbled below me as I walked through the hot rocks. It burned a little, but I got used to it quickly. During my little walk, I picked up a scent, female. Hm... I picked up my pace and followed the scent. The I came upon her. She was a fire wolf, it appeared. This was new. I had never come across a fire wolf. I approached her with caution and planned my introduction. But just as I was about to speak, I picked up on some vibes coming off of her. That's when I realized she was at the edge of the volcano. "Uh oh.." I muttered under my breath. "Um, hey..." I walked up behind her and twisted my head to the side. "I hope you're not about to jump. You don't tend to come back from things like that.."I never met a suicidal wolf either.

Whoa I never meant to brag, But I got him where I want him now, Whoa, It was never my intention to brag, But I got him where I want him now...I trotted back and forth across the edge of the caves, glancing at the flames, and bubbling lava with a wide smile on my face. I loved watching it. But then I heard something. Mumbling. So I turned towards it and continued to trot towards the sound. Then I heard a second set of footsteps. I stopped. Then I moved forward again, but this time slowly and cautiously. I looked around the large boulder, taking in the scene. A small black wolf stood on the edge of the pit, looking down and mumbling to her self. Then I glanced up and looked at the other. Male. He wasn't a fire wolf either, nor winged, nor shape shifter. Just plain.
He spoke a few words, obviously concerned for the female. I smiled. I loved it when wolves showed caring for others. I stepped out, slowly, not to scare them, but also making sure that I didn't sneak up, and letting them know I was there. "Hello. My name is Jackie. I mean to cause no harm here. Just to let you know. I heard you two and wanted to meet." I spoke in a calming, sweet voice. I took another step towards them, slowly, and cautiously, making sure not to startle them.

“ Oh I wouldn’t jump, I’m not that brave.” I said not even noticing the other wolf. I turned around and looked at this male. “It just feels nice by the volcanoes.” I said for lack of better words.
Then I heard the other, I spoke “Oh its fine.” I tilted her head at them both wondering what to do and what would happen next. I stepped away from the edge so as not to alarm the other wolves that she might jump at any moment. I lay down even though she had no idea about what these wolves were truly like. If they felt I was a threat then surly I was no match for them anyway. Setting my head on my paws I looked up at them. “Not meaning to be nosy, but what brings you two this part of the lands?” I sat up and curled my tail around me. I could feel the heat of the lava behind me. It comforted me in a strange way.

Jackie:.I smiled at her, glad that she wouldn't jump. Then she asked of my reason for being here. I chuckled once. "I am a fire wolf. What reason do I have not to be here?" My fur flamed in response. The blue flames danced and licked at the open air, not gaining any ground. I kept them well under control. My sooty black fur twitched subtly as the heat shoved at the strands. My slender frame swayed as I stalked forward, slowly not to startle them. I didn't know these wolves, and I didn't know their personalities. Were they the kind that were easily angered? Easily scared? Or even easily set off? I didn't know how strong they were, but I was sure I could take the male. He wasn't a fire wolf, and not even a winged wolf. I moved over and sank gracefully to the ground, sitting so that it would be easy for me to jump to my feet if need be.
I glanced at the male, dropping my eyes quickly. A good looking wolf no doubt. My fur blazed in embarrassment. Did he see that? I looked back up at him through my long, black eyelashes. My heart pounded roughly, and my breathing deepened. Wow. I ran my eyes over his muscular body. His soft cream coat with subtle black and grey highlights, spread neatly over his back and nape. I wonder how many would be fire wolves if we had pups. Whoa! Don't even go there! You do NOT know him! I thought immediately. My blue eyes widened in surprise as I stared at the ground. I shook my head. No. I couldn't possibly be thinking about that. Wow.
The heat from the lava swept softly over us, shaking my fur. I got up swiftly and gracefully stalked over to the edge, sitting down and staring at the lava. Then I turned back to the wolves. "So what are your names?" I asked in my high soprano. An amazing smile spread wide across my lips. My bright teeth glinted in the light glowing gorgeously from the lava. A lava bubble burst from the volcano below and sent a new wave of heat swiftly across our heads.

As I came closer to the little black I could see that she really wasn't a fire wolf. She was very much like me, just normal. I hated to think of myself as insignificant, so I searched for a better word. But my thoughts were cut short when she spoke, turning to me. "Good," I said, after she finished speaking. Then I heard the other. My head snapped back to see another female. This one was a fire wolf. No doubt about that. The brilliant blue flames twisted and blazed, writhing about her flat black coat. Equally brilliant blue eyes peered at us cautiously, and I ducked my head to show no alarm. The little black female answered her with light conversation. I sat down on the hot rock, ignoring the bubbling spray of lava so close behind me. I turned so that I could see both of the wolves. I shuddered to think what I might have considered in one of my younger days. Struggling to find reason for my existence.... I snapped back into reality as the subtle blaze of the fire wolf's coat reminded me I was not alone. "I'm Mack." My tone was light, friendly.

Jackie-
My eyes wandered around, stopping on the male and then quickly continuing. He spoke. "I'm Mack," he said in a light tone. I looked up and smiled. "My name is Jackie," I said, mimicking his tone. My bell toned voice filled the vast area. The sound would make angels jealous. My eyes fluttered against my will. I quickly looked away from him, not wanted him to see that. Then I looked at the small black female. "How about you there? May I be inquired as to your calling?" I asked sweetly. I walked a few steps forward, then sank swiftly into a sitting position. I brought my flames back to metallic, blue, glowing markings on my pitch black coat. Then I smiled at both of them.

I glanced at Jackie curiously. She seemed to be ashamed of something, but I wasn't sure what. I looked back at the smaller wolf, who still sat so close to the edge. I could feel the lava sputtering behind me, bubbling and writhing beneath the ledge. The lava sent waves of heat toward us. It was just a bit uncomfortable, but I ignored it. Summer was taking over out there and it would feel no better outside the caves. I glanced at Jackie again, curious. I supposed I was attractive enough for a normal male. Was that it? I turned to look at the lava and smiled, chuckling under my breath.
If she only knew who I was....

Mack looked at me, then turned to the lava and chuckled. Oh no. He knew? I sighed. I looked at the little black wolf and chuckled. "No, I mean your name Ma'am. As to my reason here, I am a fire wolf. What more reason do I need?" My fur flamed, adding emphasis to my words. I stood on all four, then throwing my front legs forward and stretching out my muscles. I moaned. My mouth opened wide, showing a row of perfect white teeth. The yawn last for two seconds, then ended with a snap of my teeth coming together.

I continued to site near the edge, though it was getting a bit hot. Subtle drops outside the cave were barely heard over the sputtering of lava behind me, but I could tell it was raining outside. The first rain of Summer. I looked up at the rocky shelter above us and could smell the rain water drifting in through the mouth of the cave. I looked back at Jackie and exposed my teeth in a wolfy grin and laid down on the warm rock.
