Belle shivered as she flew through the clouds, looking for somewhere that she could stay for a while. She'd come from the hotter lands, and had heard tales of what they called a "snow lake", an area supposedly perfect for her kind. She looked down, scanning the ground far below. There, about a mile away, she saw it. That must be it, she thought, swooping lower, so that she would fly through the canyon. She noticed, going through it, that there were some caves, and she changed her course, swirling to the right, into a toasty warm cave. She sniffed the cave tentitively, searching for any trace of any other wolves, Spirit or otherwise. Sensing none nearby, she let her ears range out to the other caves, hearing no one else. So I'm still alone....

Ava dipped from the sky and plummited down into the canyon. She had found this place a while ago and came here when she needed to get away from life and think. It didn't happen often, but today was once of those days. Landing in a deep cave, she folded her wings against her sides and took a deep breath. A strange smell come to her and she made a chirping sound knowing someone was near by. She was happy to find another and barked softly then looking around to find the source of the smell.

Hearing the chirp, and the bark, both nearby, Belle looked around, searching for the speaker. She poked her head out of the cave, ears down in fear, when she saw the other Spirit Wolf. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry. I didn't know this place belonged to anyone. I should leave," she said quietly, her eyes down in submittance. She was in no mood to fight with anyone, and she didn't want the land anyway; she would never be a good alphess.

Ava tilted her head in confusion. "Oh it's not my land. I just come her to think things through." she laughed a little and took a step towards the tentative female. "My name's Ave, and I don't wish you to leave." she said hoping her company wouldn't depart anytime soon.

"Oh," Belle said quietly, and sat back down in the corner, where it was a bit darker; she was always nervous around strangers. "My name's Belle. It's nice to meet you." Her words were a soft murmur, spoken quickly and nervously.

"It's nice to meet you too, Belle." she said with a sweet smile. "Are you from around here?" she asked laying down to lick her paws. She was a very friendly female and loved company. "I'm not really from here but enjoy coming here to spend some time." She smiled again and looked up at the female with soft sweet eyes.

Belle was taken a bit off guard by the female's soft, kind tone, and her conversational words. "No," she said after a moment's pause. "I'm from a long ways away. I just got here a few minutes ago, for the first time."

"I think you'll really like it here." she said with another friendly smile. "It's cozy, and slighty hard to find from above. Makes a nice hide out." Ava relazed her body but looked up at the once more. She could tell she was much younger than herself, but that really didn't matter. Laying her head on the cool rock beneath her, she closed her eyes for a brief second but then fell quickly asleep.

Seeing that Ava had fallen asleep, Belle sighed quietly, finally relaxing her still pose. She was always nervous meeting strange wolves, even females, and was always on her guard. Even as Ava slept, Belle kept her ears alert, anxious for any strange sounds.

Ava slept soundly her wings tight at her sides keeping her warm and cozy. Her tail would twitch every once in a while as well as a paw as she dreamed. She was content here in the caves and almost forgot about the other wolf in her presence.

Still wary, though a little less, Belle let herself settle down. She had been in the air for hours, and her wings were aching badly; she needed sleep. Every instinct embedded in her screamed at her to stay up and stay wary, but she was too tired to comply; she let herself drift into the sweet land of dreams.

Ava woke later and noticed the female sleeping soundly. She didn't dare bother her but instead she left the cave and searched for some breakfast. Seeing a nice little doe she soared at it and held tight to it's haunches until it hit the ground. She smiled and ripped into the deer savoring the flavor. Then she waited. Waited until she heard the female wake so she could call her for food. She eat until she was full and then layed by the carcass cleaning her paws and chasing away any critteres who tried to steal her meal.

Belle was getting lost in her dreams, falling too deep in sleep than she would have wanted to. Finally, with a brief burst of will, she snapped awake, her dreams running from her eyes. She sighed, shaking her head to wake up more. She noticed that Ava was gone, and wondered where she'd disappeared to. But she was still too sleepy for her own good; she stood and stretched out her wings to full length, yawning.

Ava watched as a group of vultures swooped down to feed. She jumped up and ran at them barking. Watching sucessfully as they few off to a nearby tree, she returned to the meal. Laying back down she cleaned her paws and legs some more along with her fragile wings. Looking to the cave she couldn't tell if Belle was awake or not so she let her head set on the ground while she waited.

Belle heard Ava barking at some birds nearby, and poked her head out the cave to investigate. Sure enough, Ava was laying down in the canyon, beside a deer carcass; Belle's mouth watered when she saw it.
