I am free to run... Free to dance... Free you live for You... I am FREE My black and white whiplash flowed behind me, whipping and lashing at the open air. I watched the ground in front of me, throwing my flints ahead. The muscles in my hindquarters contracted and released fluently, like a well oiled machine. My mane whipped and flowed freely as my head bobbed up and down with the pounding of my flints. Everything was rhythmic. The wind rushed through my mane and fur. Dirt swirled and danced behind me. My black patches resembled the night sky. The clouds that hid the moon, and stars. But then there was some stars that lit the way for my feet. I started to slow down. Slowly changing to a rocking horse type canter, than to a fast paced trot. I found the river and stopped.
I took three steps in and was already knee deep. Than five and I was chest deep. I stood there, rocking slightly with the current. It felt so good. The water was warm, due to the summer heat. There were bugs, but nothing I couldn't handle. The moon popped out from behind the clouds, and provided mood lighting. Me, the helpless romantic, wanted immediately to have a female here. Though who wouldn't? The river, the moon, the night sky... It would be perfect. I waded around in the river, waiting to see if someone would show, but there was no one so far. So I continued to wade. I finally got out and looked at my coat. It shone with the utmost perfection. The black sparkled like never before. The white was as pure as new-fallen snow. The moon hit my coat just right. I looked around and waited for someone to appear.

Cami had wondered through this land long ago, and since she'd found it came her to this river often to relax and unwind. She did not claim this land as hers and had long since decided she would leave when there was evidence of someone else here, not wanting to intrude on anothers land. Espically if it was a large brute who claimed it. Curious of other horses, she hadn't spent much time around others and longed for companionship but was scared out of her mind that most the time she saw another horse she would just turn and walk away.
But this night she was oblivious at first of the presence of the male just down river. Laying in the shallow water, she rested her head on the bank, loving the feeling of the cool water rushing over her body and cleaning her pelt. At first glance on might have thought her dead, simply laying in the water, not making a single breath. But upon further inspection you could see the heaving of her chest, and may figure her injured. In truth, if she spotted you now, she'd jump up and bolt faster than you could think possible. But bringing herself back to the present world, she forced herself up onto her feet, making a racket of splashing water and took a long drink, as her clean white coat dripped with water, shining in the moolight. She was never one that could blend in and hide as her white fur always gave her away, being predominately white with just a few bay spots along her sides and her deep brown face and ears outlining a wide blaze.

I wandered back and forth along the banks, still awaiting someone's arrival. Nothing. So I decided to walk down the river. My head held high in the air, flints lifting up. I wandered a little ways down the riverside, until I saw a bright painted coat illuminated in the moonlight. I wandered a little closer, enough to really see her. She was beautiful. Her brilliant white coat, pierced through with bay spots. Her muscles pulled tight in nervousness. I could tell she wasn't a people person. Her body moved slightly, shifting her weight as she drank the water of the fresh river. I lowered my head some, not wanting to startle her. I slowed my swift pace, slowing to a middle paced walk. I walked up beside her, turning my body some. "Hello Ma'am. Might I be inquired as to your name?" I asked in a gentlemanly, polite tone. {sorry small post...}

Cami took long swallows until she heard the voice next to her. She jumped, her muscles tensing and moved to the side ready to bolt. But when she looked up, seeing the large black and white stud, she froze, knowing she wouldn't be able to outrun him. Sure, she was swift and agile but surely not faster than a large stallion. Lowering her head, she stared at the ground, not making eye contact. "Cami." she answered softly, shyly. Her mind was a complete blank, she didn't know what to say or do, as it went when coming in contact with any other horse. Her eyes slowly lifted though, laying her caramel pools onto his and wandered how this encounter would go.

As I spoke, I saw her muscles tense again, and she look as if she were to run. I took a step back, my optics boring into hers, begging her not to leave. She lowered her cranium, and her eyes focused on the ground. My smile dropped some, for I did not want to see her uncomfortable. She looked back up at me with guarded eyes. I smiled again at her. I was trying as much I could to comfort her. "Cami," I breathed, "Beautiful name. My name is Talon," I said to her. I shifted my weight from my left side to my right. My tail swished feverishly at the night crawlers that snapped at my legs and hindquarters. I tossed my ebony and ivory mane to the side. "Do you visit this body of water often miss Cami?" I smiled again at her, trying to ease the tension.

Cami relaxed slightly as she listened to him speak. She took a step back focousing her eyes on him. "Talon." she said quietly, repeating his name, tasting it on her lips. It sounded slightly evil and devious which worried her but there wasn't much she could to do solve that. "Yes actually, I do come here often." she said gazing to the water. "I find it very relaxing." Turning her eyes back to him, it hit her. "I'm so sorry." she begged then. "I didn't mean to tresspass on your land. I'll leave right away." she said backing up some, stumbling when she stepped into a hole

I chuckled softly when she spoke of it being my land. "No need to worry Ma'am, this is unclaimed land. Not mine, nor yours. True, I was thinking of claiming this land but either way, I would never ask you to leave. I would be proud to have such a beautiful mare on my property." I tried to ease her thoughts some. I didn't want her to leave. She was beautiful, and I wanted to get to know her. A soft breeze whispered sweet nothing in our ears, and breathed over our coats, gently drying mine. The moon shone brightly above our heads, and then summer clouds moved away, giving us a perfect view of God's work over our heads. Orion waved goodbye with winter, and the big dipper moved into place. The trees danced in the soft breeze, and the flowers waved at us. The wind carried the sweet smell of honeysuckle, and tempted us with the promise of the sweet taste. The wind blew circles in the water, and the waves tiptoed onto the bank and then swiftly retreated. I breathed in the smell of the honeysuckle carried on the wind. My mouth watered at the memory of the sweet taste. I looked back at Cami. She stumbled when she stepped in a hole while retreating from "my" land. I turned to face her completely. "Are you okay, Cami?" I asked, sincere concern coating my deep lyrics.
